The Lark Descending

I gained a BMus from University of Manchester and the PGCert in Performance and Teaching from Trinity College of Music in 1996 and since then have been a jobbing freelance violinist. Work includes: (with some highlights from 2022-23 first!)
3head: releases and remixes from our forthcoming 3rd album: (founder member since 1998 with ex-Tindersticks drummer Al Macaulay)
Dep violin (solo) on Wicked, Victoria Apollo.
Tindersticks: 30th anniversary European tour. I have played with them as an extra member since 1994 in our string quartet.
Divine Comedy 30th anniversary concerts: Violin doubling viola Barbican, Paris: We played 10 of Neil Hannon's albums in their entirety one week.
Orchestral sessions: Isobel Griffiths Ltd and COOL Music. Most recently:
Films: Paul King's new Wonka movie with Neil Hannon and Joby Talbot's wonderful songs and score
Firebrand: Dickon Hinchliffe's great score. I have worked with Dickon since 1994 in Tindersticks and then on his film scores with the Tindersticks quartet.
Maya Youssef: String Quartet orchestrations for the Opera North Quartet on Youssef's wonderful album 'Finding Home.' Also orchestration for Leighton House Project November orchestrations for violin, cello and double bass with singers from Voces 8.
Barry Adamson: Orchestration for 'The Weeping Willows,' album produced by Barry Adamson, Sony Sweden.
Bernard Butler and Jessie Buckley; recording for their album 'For all Our Days that Tear the Heart' and appearance on Later with Jools Holland
Concerts: Sam Smith Royal Albert Hall, Rushil Ranjan Roundhouse.
Work in progress: playing live in and recording violins for a film in the Basque Region of Spain. More info on this later this year!

'The Lark Descending': a solo violin and concertina arrangement of 'The Lark Ascending' by Graeme Miller and myself; performed at the launch of Surrey Hills Arts Festival and at Vaughan Williams's birth place Leith House 2019.

Workshop Leader:
I am very interested in and involved in musical inclusive practice for disabled young musicians. I have had much training and mentoring over the last 7 years from the wonderful Drake Music. I am now workshop leader and creative lead for Soundbox Ensemble: a creative music group for mixed ability disabled and non-disabled young musicians .
We just performed our devised piece based on 'Around the World in 80 Days' by Jules Verne at the re-opening of Young V&A July 2023.
New position: Music Inclusion Practitioner for Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Education Service January 2023.
